WHISTLER REAL ESTATE – YEAR IN REVIEW

TOTAL SALES

Total sales for 2019 was only 553, roughly half the volume of 2017.  The chart below shows the 5 year activity for Whistler, with number of sales declining while average prices trended upwards or stayed flat 2018 to 2019. 

CHALETS

Chalet values have remained relatively flat over the past 3 years, with a 2019 average price just under $3M.

CONDOS & TOWNHOUSES

Condos and Townhouses represent over half the total sales in 2019 with strong price increases in the past 5 years.  The average price for a Townhouse in 2019 was $1,354,273 and Condo pricing almost half that at $717,855. The number of Townhouse sales were down 18% from 2018 while Condos increased 1%. 

SHARED OWNERSHIP AND VACANT LAND

Shared ownership and vacant land represent just over 10% of total sales in 2019, with 52 shared ownership sales at an average price of $182,953, down 9% from 2018.  There were only 10 vacant land sales at an average price of $1,138,550, down 32% over 2018, due to the steadily decreasing supply of vacant land and no new land available.

ORIGIN OF BUYERS 2019

The majority of Buyers has consistently come from Canada, primarily from the Vancouver/lower mainland area, representing over 80% of Buyers.  USA and Hong Kong represent 2nd and 3rd place and the remainder from a variety of countries world wide.
